Spec notes
- Q2 FY27 net profit attributable to owners rose 5.7% year on year to US $1.92 million.
- Revenue from operations grew 27.8% to US $95.6 million; EBITDA rose 40.8% to US $12.7 million with margin at 18.2%.
- Sequentially, revenue fell from US $105.2 million in Q1 FY27 and net profit dropped from US $4.42 million.
- H1 FY27 revenue growth was around 42%; FY27 guidance remains above 50% growth with 5-7% SSSG expected.
- Durga Puja shifted from September to October, moving festive demand into Q3.

V2 Retail booked a 5.7% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit attributable to owners, reaching US $1.92 million in Q2 FY27 against US $1.81 million in the same quarter a year earlier. Revenue from operations rose faster than profit, climbing 27.8% to US $95.6 million from US $74.8 million.
The quarter's operating performance outpaced both lines. EBITDA rose 40.8% to US $12.7 million from US $9 million, and the EBITDA margin expanded a full percentage point to 18.2% from 17.2%. For a value retailer running high volumes at thin unit economics, that margin gain is the most consequential figure in the release: it signals pricing discipline rather than volume alone drove operating leverage.
How did the quarter compare sequentially?
The year-on-year gains mask a sharp sequential slowdown. Revenue fell to US $95.6 million from US $105.2 million in Q1 FY27, a decline of roughly 9%. Net profit dropped harder, more than halving to US $1.92 million from US $4.42 million in the preceding quarter.
Total expenses stood at US $93.2 million, down from US $99.9 million in Q1 FY27. The expense base therefore contracted 6.7% while revenue contracted 9.1%, a combination consistent with the cost control management says underpinned the quarter.
Why did management keep its 50% guidance?
Despite the softer second quarter, the retailer retained its FY27 revenue growth guidance of more than 50%. The decision rests on the first-half run rate and the timing of the festive calendar.
Whole-time Director and CEO Akash Agarwal laid out the case: "The company recorded revenue growth of around 42% in H1FY27, despite the Durga Puja festive period shifting from September to October. It expects same-store sales growth (SSSG) of 5-7% and anticipates greater clarity on its full-year performance after Q3."
The calendar shift matters for anyone reading the Q2 number in isolation. Durga Puja falling in October rather than September moved festive demand out of the reported quarter and into Q3, depressing the sequential comparison without indicating structural demand loss.
What protected gross margins?
Agarwal pointed to a deliberate merchandising decision: "Management also said it avoided deep discounting during Q2 compared with the year-earlier period, which is expected to support gross margins."
That restraint carries direct sourcing implications. A value retailer that holds off promotional markdowns absorbs less pressure to force clearance volumes through its vendor base, and the year-on-year EBITDA margin expansion to 18.2% suggests the strategy took effect within the quarter rather than remaining a forward claim.
What suppliers and analysts should watch next
The third quarter is now the decisive data point. Management itself has flagged that clarity on full-year performance will come only after Q3, when the shifted festive trading lands in the reported numbers. Two indicators frame the outlook:
- Same-store sales growth guidance of 5-7%, which sets the floor for like-for-like demand once new-store expansion is stripped out.
- H1 FY27 revenue growth of roughly 42%, which leaves a steep implied second-half acceleration required to clear the above-50% full-year guidance.
The gap between the 42% first-half actual and the more-than-50% full-year target defines the execution risk. The festive shift argues the gap is largely timing; a weak Q3 print would argue otherwise.
For supply-chain professionals tracking the Indian value retail segment, the quarter's message is mixed but legible: top-line growth remains strong on an annual basis, sequential pressure was calendar-driven, and management chose margin protection over discount-led volume. Whether that balance holds through the festive quarter will determine if the 50% guidance survives contact with Q3 results.
