Poshmark is converting its 14th annual Poshfest into a two-day public shopping market at City Market Social House in downtown Los Angeles, putting nearly 5,000 pieces of vintage, designer, denim, accessories, bridal and contemporary fashion in front of walk-in buyers this Friday and Saturday.

The format change lands as the California-based resale platform reports gross merchandise value growth of about 30 percent year-over-year, with orders up more than 20 percent and engagement climbing nearly 20 percent since January. Sellers add more than 700,000 new listings daily, according to chief revenue officer Elizabeth von der Goltz.

Why Los Angeles for the relaunch?

"Los Angeles felt like the perfect place to start," von der Goltz said. "It's one of our largest and most engaged communities, but it's also become such a destination for vintage and secondhand fashion, with this incredible mix of archival, luxury, denim and one-of-a-kind finds."

The city follows a recent public activation at New York Fashion Week, where, von der Goltz said, "people lined up for blocks, with many arriving early to get access to the product before it was gone."

That response, she added, "showed us there's a real appetite to experience Poshmark in person, and that the thrill of discovery becomes even more powerful when you bring it into the physical world."

What will the market offer?

Confirmed sellers include Honey Vintage, Happy Isles, Homeboy Threads and The Millennial Decorator, alongside creators and sellers from around the country. L.A. artist Bijou Karman created the event's logo and artwork and will sell from her own booth.

Operational partners and services on site:

  • Rowenta, providing complimentary garment care and on-site tailoring
  • Poshmark authentication demonstrations
  • An interactive listing station for prospective sellers
  • Posh Live streaming the market to shoppers outside Los Angeles

Poshmark will also activate its recently launched Event Mode feature on site. Shoppers scan an item's QR code, buy it through the seller's Poshmark closet and take the piece home immediately.

"We want to do more IRL experiences, and Event Mode gives us the infrastructure to make those experiences truly shoppable," von der Goltz said.

What does the volume data signal?

The growth figures von der Goltz cited — 30 percent GMV, 20-plus percent orders, 20 percent engagement since January — frame the Los Angeles event as more than a community meetup. With sellers adding more than 700,000 listings per day, Poshmark is converting physical activations into a new sales channel that bypasses the shipping cycle built into its marketplace model.

Event Mode is the operational bridge. The QR-code-to-closet purchase flow lets buyers leave City Market Social House with merchandise in hand, compressing the lead time that has historically separated secondhand platforms from fast-turnover retail.

Where does Poshfest go next?

"Our ambition is to take it to a different city each year," von der Goltz added.

That roving format would convert Poshfest from an annual seller conference into a traveling commercial instrument, anchored to the platform's most engaged regional buyer bases. Poshmark, founded in 2011 by Manish Chandra and now owned by South Korean internet company Naver Corp., has not disclosed the criteria for selecting future host cities, though the stated preference for vintage and secondhand destinations narrows the candidate list to a handful of U.S. metros.

The Los Angeles run, set for this Friday and Saturday, will measure whether the demand observed at NYFW carries to a West Coast market with deep existing vintage infrastructure.
