Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics will return to the National Exhibition and Convention Center from 25–27 August 2026, with organisers targeting a repeat of the 2025 edition's scale: more than 3,700 exhibitors from 26 countries and regions and over 100,000 buyers from 123 countries and regions.

The Autumn Edition will focus sourcing attention on four themes — Fashion Forward, Performance Textiles, Sustainability and Textile Future — covering functional fabrics, certified eco-materials, smart textiles, AI-driven design tools and next-generation manufacturing technologies.

"Buyers are looking for more than materials – they are looking for direction, innovation, and long-term partners," said Ms Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. She said the fair's showcase is expanding to address functional performance, sustainability priorities and emerging product categories.

What's new for 2026?

The Pet Boutique, first introduced at the 2025 Spring Edition, makes its Autumn debut. The dedicated showcase brings together suppliers of fabrics and materials for pet clothing and accessories — a segment forecast to grow 5.6 per cent annually up to 2031, with Asia-Pacific set for the fastest growth.

"Applying natural textile materials in the pet sector is still an emerging avenue. The primary role of this display area is to help the industry understand these materials and master their application methods," said Mr Fred Wang, BD Manager for Functional Wear at Lenzing, who exhibited at the Spring Edition. He also spoke at the related Pet Forum on natural fibre applications.

Functional Lab expands scope

The enhanced Functional Lab retains its integrated booth, display area and seminar format, centred on The CUBE, a high-visibility display of standout functional fabrics. New for this edition, The CUBE adds a Product Presentation Series, giving brands a structured slot to present innovations directly to sourcing audiences.

The zone also extends its focus to climate-adaptive textiles — fabrics with temperature and humidity regulation — and silver-age applications targeting ageing demographics with comfort, ease of care, lightweight performance and practicality.

Ms Zoe Zhang, Engineer at the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA), said the last Autumn Edition generated concrete follow-on business: "The conversations continued well beyond the show floor with several domestic manufacturers reaching out to us to explore collaboration on nanomaterial applications."

Specialised sourcing zones

Alongside the four pillars, the fair will again run its specialised zones:

  • Accessories Vision — trims, zippers and finishing components
  • Beyond Denim — denim innovation and sustainable finishing
  • Essential Suits & Shirts — accessible ready-to-wear suiting and shirting fabrics
  • Innovation & Digital Solutions Zone — AI tools, digital production systems, advanced manufacturing
  • Premium Wool Zone — wool performance for top-quality suiting
  • Salon Europe — high-end European fabric collections
  • Verve for Design — creative studios, patterns and original textile design

Co-location and calendar

Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry CCPIT and the China Textile Information Center co-organise the fair. It runs alongside Yarn Expo Autumn, CHIC and PH Value at the same venue, covering the full apparel textile value chain in one trip.

Organisers have also confirmed Intertextile Shenzhen Apparel Fabrics / Yarn Expo Shenzhen for 9–11 June 2026 and the Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles and Textile Technologies for 24–26 February 2027 in Ho Chi Minh City — giving sourcing teams three regional fixture dates to plan around over the next 18 months.
