Yarn Expo Spring will run from 10 to 12 March 2027 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, organisers announced on 6 October 2026, betting that last edition's record turnout holds as sourcing priorities shift toward verified material credentials.

The March 2026 edition was the fair's strongest to date: more than 600 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions met over 25,000 visitors from 113 countries and regions. Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT, jointly organise the event.

The fair runs concurrently with Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition, Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Spring Edition, CHIC and PH Value, letting yarn and fibre suppliers tap buyer traffic across the apparel, home textile and retail channel events in a single trip.

Why Shanghai still anchors yarn sourcing

The global yarn, fibre and thread market is projected to reach USD 182.7 billion by 2032, with Asia-Pacific remaining central to spinning, filament and textile production as well as downstream demand. China's integrated fibre, yarn, textile and equipment sectors reinforce Shanghai's position as the industry's meeting point.

"In a changing economic landscape, last year's record participation showed how important it is for the yarn and fibre industry to meet in Shanghai, exchange ideas and understand what the market needs next," said Ms Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. "In March, suppliers will have the opportunity to present their latest developments to buyers from apparel, home textiles, knitting and related sectors, discuss requirements and build business relationships for the long term."

For sourcing teams, that translates into a single venue covering cotton and linen, chemical and regenerated fibre, fancy yarn and specialty categories.

What are buyers screening for?

According to the organisers, buyer requirements are becoming more complex, with demand concentrating on:

  • Recycled and bio-based inputs
  • Improved traceability across the supply chain
  • Safer processing methods
  • Specialty products such as glass fibre yarns, where strength, thermal behaviour and processing performance drive selection

The 2026 edition already reflected this shift. Exhibitors included Better International, Circ Inc, Everest Textile and Toray Industries, many of whom reported positive business outcomes, the organisers said.

How the show floor is organised

Yarn Expo Spring 2027 will feature an International Zone plus eight dedicated zones: Cashmere Yarn, Cotton Yarn, Chemical Fibre, Fancy Yarn, Linen Yarn, Silk Yarn, Wool Yarn and a Digital Solution Zone. The structure is designed to shorten supplier discovery for buyers with end-use-specific requirements across natural, man-made and specialty categories.

Exhibitor feedback from March suggests the format works across market tiers. "The fair provided an exceptional platform for connecting with the global textile community. We engaged with a remarkably diverse range of customers – from luxury European suit makers seeking our aesthetically stunning, long-lasting yarns, to mass-market fashion buyers from Southeast Asia impressed by how our cutting-edge technology ensures consistency at scale," said Mr Raj Bhimani, Sales Manager of Spinfab Spinners, which exhibited in the India Pavilion.

Fringe programme links R&D to commercial uptake

Alongside the exhibition, the 2027 fringe programme includes China Yarns Fashion Trends, Tongkun · China Fibre Fashion Trend 2027/2028, New Fibre New World – Textile Materials Innovation Activities, and selected Enterprise Product Launch sessions. Organisers position these sessions as a bridge between fibre and yarn development and market implementation.

With visitor demand for credentialed, traceable materials still climbing, the March 2027 edition will test whether the record participation of 2026 was a peak or a new baseline for Shanghai's yarn trade calendar.
