Drôle de Monsieur has signed as official formalwear partner of Real Betis Balompié, dressing the Seville club's players off the pitch for the 2026-27 season. The deal makes the French menswear specialist the latest fashion label to attach itself to European soccer, a channel that brands increasingly use to reach audiences beyond traditional retail.

The brand, founded by Dany Dos Santos and Maxime Schwab, will supply a formal wardrobe built around roomy suits in a subtle check with bellows pockets, paired with splayed Cuban collar shirts. The first on-body appearance is scheduled for Nov. 24, when Real Betis faces ŠK Slovan Bratislava.

What does the partnership cover?

The agreement covers formalwear for the squad's off-pitch appearances throughout the 2026-27 season. It does not involve kit or technical apparel. Both founders frame the project as a wardrobe with a distinct identity rather than a logo placement.

"We wanted to create a wardrobe with its own personality, bringing our approach to elegance into the club's life off the pitch," Schwab said.

Dos Santos described the design direction as climate-driven. "We wanted to bring a Latin sensibility to Drôle de Monsieur's tailoring, with an ease that feels natural in a warm climate," he said.

Why the founders see a personal fit

Both founders claim direct connections to soccer and Spain. Schwab played at National 3 level in France, the fifth tier of the French league system. "My connection comes directly from playing the game," he said.

Dos Santos cited family ties through Schwab's Spanish grandmother and his own interest in Seville's architecture and craftsmanship. He also named Diego Maradona, Arsène Wenger and Paolo Maldini as style references. "Their outfits, their attitude and the way they carried themselves," he said.

What the club expects commercially

Real Betis positions the deal as part of a broader commercial expansion rather than a one-off styling exercise. Emilio García Duarte, the club's business director, said the partnership extends the club's reach into new sectors.

"Real Betis' growth is not only visible on the pitch; it is also reflected in partnerships with leading international brands," García Duarte said. "This collaboration opens the door to new audiences and sectors alongside a brand with a strong reputation in contemporary menswear and a distinctive identity."

For Drôle de Monsieur, the agreement places the label inside a La Liga club's official partner roster, a positioning that soccer clubs monetize across categories from airlines to watchmakers. The brand has not disclosed financial terms, contract duration beyond the 2026-27 season, or whether the wardrobe will be commercialized through retail.

The Nov. 24 match against ŠK Slovan Bratislava will provide the first measurable visibility test for the partnership, with the club and the label both counting on exposure that extends well beyond Seville.
