Fashion tech firm Vêtir has secured a patent covering its AI-powered digital closet and personalisation engine, and has used the announcement to launch two commercial products: a licensable B2B virtual try-on platform and a portable consumer style profile.

The patent, according to the company, reaches beyond a digital wardrobe concept. It covers Vêtir's proprietary approach to personalisation, which combines learned shopper preferences with pre- and post-purchase intelligence systems and additional external data inputs to inform its AI styling recommendations.

What are the new products?

Vêtir Enterprise is the company's first openly licensable offering for brands and retailers. The product bundles a virtual try-on tool with a conversational AI stylist, and it targets luxury brands in particular.

The platform is designed so partners can embed personalised virtual try-on and conversational styling directly into their own sites. It ships with CRM and analytics tools tied to the shopping activity that results from those interactions, giving licensees visibility into what the AI layer actually drives.

The second launch, the Style Passport, is a consumer-facing browser extension. It carries a user's style data across online storefronts. The portable profile includes personal sizing and style preferences, a photorealistic avatar and a digital wardrobe. The stated aim is personalisation that works across different online stores rather than within a single retailer's environment.

Vêtir said the extension lets users chat with a stylist interface while shopping across multiple stores, including referencing items already sitting in a user's closet.

What performance numbers backs the pitch?

Vêtir cited figures it said Rakuten, the affiliate network, has confirmed for its own site:

  • An average 13% conversion rate from its personalised AI styling system
  • More than $2,600 in average order value (AOV)

Across its retail partners, the company reported:

  • An average 28% lift in AOV from its AI-powered chat-to-shop functionality
  • 92% of sales on the platform "informed by AI chat"
  • Average time spent on the platform rising to more than seven minutes

The figures are company-reported and centre on Vêtir's own properties and partner network; the Rakuten confirmation applies to the conversion and AOV claims on Vêtir's site. No independent audit of the partner-side numbers was cited.

Who is behind it and who is paying?

The launches follow a $5.5m Series A round earlier this year, according to the company. Vêtir was last valued at $150m.

Founder Kate Davidson Hudson framed the patent and products as a data-portability play. She said: "The future of luxury fashion will continue to be personalisation. AI is a powerful tool in achieving that at scale; but if AI doesn't have any data on you – personally – it's still starting from scratch every time you search."

She added that the Style ID extension and the new enterprise product "gives your data back to you and optimises it so every online storefront is reframed through the lens of what works and fits for you. Your sizing, your taste, your closet, it now travels around the internet with you in the Vêtir style passport."

For sourcing and digital-commerce teams at luxury brands, the enterprise licence raises concrete questions: integration scope, data ownership for shopper profiles that move between storefronts, and how the reported AOV lifts translate outside Vêtir's existing partner base. Licensing terms and pricing were not disclosed.

Vêtir will now look to convert its patent position and Series A capital into signed luxury retail licences, with the portable Style Passport testing whether shoppers will carry a single style identity across competing storefronts.
