Gartex Texprocess India will stage a new Kolkata edition in January 2027, establishing a three-city Indian platform alongside existing shows in Delhi and Mumbai. Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India and MEX Exhibitions organise the announced event, extending their stated coverage across North, West and East India.
What does the Kolkata launch cover?
The show targets manufacturers, suppliers and buyers from West Bengal and neighbouring Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand and the north-east. Organisers report growing interest among eastern manufacturers in capacity upgrades, advanced machinery and wider markets. The announcement discloses no machinery orders, capital commitments or booked-exhibitor numbers.
What machinery and sourcing categories will be on show?
The expected exhibitor profile includes:
- Circular knitting and hosiery machinery.
- Sewing and embroidery equipment, garment-making technology and digital printing.
- Dyeing and finishing systems.
- Weaving, powerloom and jute-processing machinery.
- Fabrics, trims, accessories and related solutions.
The announcement gives no machine models, unit prices, order volumes, delivery schedules or certification claims. Nor does it identify committed suppliers, factory capacity additions, booth costs or machinery-purchase terms. For buyers, the categories identify sourcing targets without establishing procurement terms, production availability or supplier payment arrangements.
Which eastern production clusters will exhibitors encounter?
West Bengal contains weaving and craft clusters including Fulia, Santipur, Bishnupur and Murshidabad. Kolkata and nearby districts remain associated with India’s hosiery sector and continue to produce ethnic wear, children’s clothing, zari and embroidery. The Hooghly belt leads jute production, supplying bags, home textiles, geotextiles and composites.
What commercial reach does Kolkata add?
Local firms can use the show to present capabilities to a broader national and international audience. For exhibitors from other regions, it offers direct access to buyers in a market where they may not have had a physical presence. Kolkata’s location links the event to cross-border markets in Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan, broadening its potential reach.
What case do the organisers make for expansion?
“Our expansion to Kolkata is a natural next step in that journey. Eastern India combines a remarkable textile and handloom heritage with an increasingly ambitious manufacturing community that is looking towards technology, modernisation and new markets,” said Raj Manek, executive director and board member of Messe Frankfurt Asia Holdings.
He added: “We want Gartex Texprocess India to be part of that future growth, connecting the strengths of this region with technology providers, manufacturers and buyers from across India and international markets.”
“Eastern India’s textile and garment industry presents significant opportunities, particularly as manufacturers look towards capacity expansion, modernisation and wider market access,” said Gaurav Juneja, director of MEX Exhibitions.
Juneja added: “Gartex Texprocess India in Kolkata will provide the industry with a platform where manufacturers and buyers can see, compare and source technologies and solutions in one place.”
He continued: “For exhibitors, it opens access to a new and important market, while for visitors it brings a comprehensive textile technology platform closer to their doorstep. Kolkata is a market we have been evaluating closely, and we believe the time is right to be here.”
No attendance forecasts, market-size estimates or performance figures accompany the announcement. The January 2027 event will test whether organiser expectations translate into named exhibitors and measurable buyer traffic; the launch sets out a market-access opportunity, not evidence of equipment orders.
