Dishang Group won the 2026 PCIAW State-of-the-Art Manufacturer title. It marks the Chinese apparel group’s second consecutive victory.

PCIAW, the Professional Clothing Industry Association, presented the award at its annual sector gathering in London. Dishang said the honor recognizes continued capital investment in industrial technology, operational agility and greener production across its international network.

Headquartered in Weihai, Shandong Province, China, Dishang operates more than 90 wholly owned manufacturing sites and 200 production partners worldwide. It engineers end-to-end design and garment solutions across menswear, womenswear, activewear, tailoring and workwear.

What changed across the factory network?

Over the past 12 months, Dishang has deepened the rollout of its Smart Digital Manufacturing Initiative. The program embeds machine learning, robotic handling and automated data monitoring into daily factory workflows.

The company also increased use of an AI-led energy platform that now covers more than 80% of Dishang’s manufacturing facilities, yet the announcement provides no independent verification of the reported savings. Dishang reports a 12% reduction in per-unit energy consumption compared with 2024 levels.

The 12% figure is the clearest stated operating metric in the announcement. It does not establish effects on output quality, labor hours, capacity utilization or order lead times.

What evidence supports the performance claims?

Richard Watts, managing director of Dishang (UK), said: “Winning this award for the second consecutive year is a tremendous achievement and recognition of the investment Dishang continues to make in its people, technology and manufacturing capabilities.”

Watts described measurable progress since the prior year, rather than technology purchases alone. He cited “real improvements in production efficiency, speed to market, resource management and environmental performance.”

The announcement does not publish the award judging criteria, capital-spending total, energy measurement protocol, facility list or independent audit. It gives no speed-to-market gain, labor-productivity gain or capacity release from automation.

Dishang presents the group as the technology investor, but it does not explain effects on buyer prices, sample charges, freight terms or production minimums. High-speed 3D digital sampling, AI-driven design tools and textile-to-textile recycling technologies also feature in the company’s account of lower-impact production. Dishang says they help reduce garment-related environmental impact and meet retail demand for demonstrable, audited supply-chain credentials.

The announcement gives no recycling volume, recovery rate, certification coverage or site rollout date for those tools. Buyers cannot use that disclosure to verify recycling performance or compliance readiness at individual factories.

What does the Harrogate hub mean for buyers?

Dishang (UK) runs its design headquarters at The Chapel in Harrogate. The office serves as the direct technical and commercial channel between British and European clothing brands and the group’s factory base. Its team coordinates seasonal trend research, fabric sourcing, garment technology and full production runs directly with buyers.

This structure gives brands one point for technical coordination and production. That channel reaches more than 90 owned sites and 200 partners. It does not reveal how capacity is allocated among brands, products or seasons.

Dishang also omits which factories hold specific certifications, what lead times apply to each production route, and when digital systems will reach each remaining site. Dishang’s 2026 award confirms the second consecutive title. For buyers, the next proof point is site-level evidence covering the 12% energy baseline, automation timing, certification scope, available capacity and the allocation of technology costs. Until those records arrive, the operating gains remain company-reported.
